Simple Vegan Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
1 1/2
Cups
Any non-dairy milk
I used Almond Milk
2
Tablespoons
Potato Starch
Arrowroot starch will work as well
2-3
Tablespoon
Nutritional yeast
Add 2 or 3 tablespoons as per your taste
1/2
Teaspoon
Onion powder
1/2
Teaspoon
Garlic Powder
1/2
Teaspoon
Ground Cumin
1/4
Teaspoon
Smoked Paprika
Himalayan salt (or pink salt) to taste
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a heavy pan until all combined. This works better with a whisk.
Place the pan on medium-low heat and cook until it simmers – stirring constantly. Let it cook to your preferred thickness and then remove from heat.
Use this simple roux in your favourite dish as substitute for cheese sauce.
